This list provides an overview of some of the most important innovations in the new Version 2006 of CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® .

General

 

Direct access to online support page.

Implemented an option to add one ore more readme files to the navigation tree.

Last stored view setting is restored after opening a project and shown in the preview bitmap.

 

Allow to enter (and simulate) eps / mue values < 1.0.

 

New dialog added for non-uniform scaling of the structure.

 

User defined shortcuts for menu entries.

 

Auto save feature added which saves the model automatically in user specified time intervals.

 

Improved handling of tables (more plot options, better data export).

 

Distributed computing revised.

 

Dispersive material fitting for (Re, Im) data lists (eps/mue) and magnetic tanD implemented.

Memory statistics for solver run and matrix calculation added to TD solver logfile.

 

Implemented current distribution excitation.

 

AR-filter can now be applied to probes and voltage monitors via VBA.

 

Number of pulses is parameterized.

 

Post Processing

 

2D plots can be visualized on arbitrary cut planes.

 

Renewed table properties dialog box, added tuning sliders.

 

Evaluate field on face for tetrahedral mesh enabled.

 

Smith charts can now also be plotted for S-parameters with frequency dependent reference impedances.

Implemented VBA commands to calculate multiple farfield points.

 

Lossy dielectric ground plane for farfield calculation implemented.

 

Eigenmode Solver

 

External Q-factor calculation for the eigenmode solver.

 

The lossy JD Eigenmode solver now offers the option to use a TD compatible material treatment.

 

Frequency Domain Solver

 

Up and down arrow keys now work for selecting a field of a FD solver result file map, also for unit cell calculations.

 

Info text for result file maps now displays all parameters, including e.g. theta and phi.

 

The tetrahedral mesh type now is the default for the Frequency Domain solver.

 

Hex-FD solver, Hex-FD-MOR solver, and Eigenmode solver are now external executables.

 

General 1st and 2nd order dispersive models are available in FD solver now.

 

FD solvers now automatically increase the number of samples until S-parameter convergence if required.

 

The Hex-FD mesh and the adapted Tet-FD mesh are now reused or can be reused for faster scan angle parameter sweeps.

 

Memory statistics for solver run and matrix calculation added to Hex FD solver logfiles.

 

Hex and Tet FD solvers now log the number of DOFs and their memory usage.

 

The maximum number of processors can now be set for the Hex- and Tet-FD solvers.

 

The FD solver with hex and tet mesh now features a weight for evanescent modes during an S-parameter sweep.

 

Improved final FD solver frequency sweep error estimation, which may lead to a faster convergence.

 

An alternative selection method via dialog is now available for S-parameters.

 

FD solver's list of S-parameters-to-consider now takes into account Floquet ports.

 

Finished modifications for analytic Tet-FD Floquet modes.

The unit cell feature is available for Tet- and Hex-FD, with non-rectangular unit cells in the Tet-FD solver only.

The Hex-FD solver now switches between iterative and direct solvers in the 'auto' mode, depending on the initial guess.

Tet-FD solver now supports a surface impedance model for corrugated walls.

 

The Tet-FD solver now supports diagonal anisotropic and gyrotropic materials.

 

The Tet-FD solver now also features periodic boundary conditions, except for ports.

The Tet-FD solvers S-parameter progression during an adaptive mesh refinement is now added to the result tree.

 

Tet-FD solver now writes a mesh adaptation log file.

 

The Tet-FD solver now features first order open boundary conditions.

 

Discrete ports are available for the fast resonant solver.

 

Hex MOR3D solver can be used with monitors.

 

MOR3D solver can handle (small) dielectric losses and dispersive materials.
