NetList

:help:

How To Import An OrCAD Design

The procedure to import an OrCAD design has two phases:

In OrCAD - prepare the design by inserting the relevant CADSTAR library name as a property of each symbol on the design. This enables CADSTAR to obtain the appropriate part or footprint from the CADSTAR libraries. Then create a Netlist from the design. Then edit the orcad.set file (if necessary).

In CADSTAR - run the Import option to read in the OrCAD Netlist.

The OrCAD system should be running with the design, you require to import, displayed

To Prepare the OrCAD design:

a. Double Click on a symbol

or

b. Select the symbol and then select Properties on the Edit menu

The Edit Part dialog is displayed. It shows the properties of the symbol, including the name of the part or ‘footprint ’ symbol used.

Decide whether you are going to use a CADSTAR ‘footprint’ or a CADSTAR part to represent the OrCAD symbol in the PCB design. By entering this name, you tell the CADSTAR Import process which CADSTAR footprint or Part to use.

Enter the appropriate CADSTAR PCB Component ('footprint') or Parts library name in the PCB Footprint box on the dialog

Note: If you enter a Part name there will be no need for you to edit the orcad.set file later in the process - this is the default mode.

Repeat this CADSTAR name insertion process for each symbol on the design.

If you wish, you can change the names of the symbols in the OrCAD library to CADSTAR names. These names will appear in the Part Value box on the dialog. In a later process you can edit the orcad.set file to automatically use the values in this box instead. In this way you do not have to edit each symbol on the design.

When you have allocated all the symbols on the design to CADSTAR equivalent 'footprints' or parts you are ready to create the Netlist:

Select Create Netlist on the Tools menu

On the dialog displayed:

Select the PCB tab

Type the name of the file to store the netlist

The default extension for this file is .net

OK the dialog

The netlist is now generated

To Set Up The orcad.set File:

If you have allocated the OrCAD symbols in a different way to the default (the default uses Part names in the PCB Footprint box) you need to edit the orcad.set file.

The Set file normally resides in the same directory as the CADSTAR software and has the name orcad.set

Use a text editor (e.g. Notepad) to modify the Set file to recognise the CADSTAR properties you inserted during the preparation of the design

More Information On The Format Of The Set File ...

To Import The OrCAD Netlist Into CADSTAR

Run up the CADSTAR

Normally you will create a new PCB design from the OrCAD netlist:

Select New on the File menu

A list of CADSTAR applications is displayed:

Select PCB Design and OK the dialog

A list of Design Technologies for the new file is displayed:

Select the type of design you require and OK the dialog

An empty PCB Design window is displayed. This is ready to receive the OrCAD netlist.

Select Import on the File menu

On the Import dialog:

Scroll the Format box until OrCAD PCB Netlist is displayed

Now you need to specify the location of the OrCAD Netlist file:

Select Browse

The Import Design dialog is displayed.

Set up the dialog to input the OrCAD Netlist file required and OK it

You are now ready to start the import process:

Click on OK on the Import dialog

The system now converts the ORCAD netlist into a RINF file and imports format into PCB Design

The appropriate PCB components and their interconnections will be displayed in the PCB Design window, with their origins superimposed at X0 Y0.

В Layout есть экспорт файлов проекта....в числе вариантов есть и вариант CadStar....хочет сделать .CDI файл - что это такое и с чем его едят это CDI???

Можно попробовать и этот способ.

CADSTAR 7 (for DOS) PCB Initial Data

The CADSTAR 7 (for DOS) PCB Initial Data (CDI) format is an ASCII description of a design, suitable for importing into PCB Design. You need to use a PCB Mapping file if you wish the CADSTAR 7 (for DOS) numeric codes and names to be converted to the alphanumeric names that are used in CADSTAR For Windows. It can describe a complete design when exported from PCB Design, or it can be the component and connections at X0 Y0 when exported from Schematic Design.
